3 Hidden Gems You Must Visit in St Annes.

The Fylde Coast is well known for its wide sandy beaches and iconic pier, but if you look a little closer, there are some wonderful spots tucked away that many visitors often overlook. For those wanting to discover a quieter side of St Annes, here are three of my favourite hidden gems to explore.

The Lowther Gardens

While many visitors head straight for the promenade, Lowther Gardens offers a peaceful escape just a short distance away. One of the oldest parks in the area, the gardens are beautifully maintained with seasonal floral displays. It’s the perfect spot to sit with a book and enjoy a slower pace, sheltered slightly from the coastal breeze.

The St Annes Sand Dunes

For a more natural and untouched landscape, the St Annes Sand Dunes are a must-visit. It feels worlds away from the promenade, offering quiet walking paths, unique wildlife, and elevated views across the Irish Sea. It’s especially beautiful when the tide is high and the horizon stretches endlessly.

Independent Shops on Wood Street

Just beyond the main square, Wood Street is home to a collection of independent businesses that give St Annes its character. A favourite of mine is the Cheese Emporium, perfect for finding something a little different. It’s a great place to wander, support local, and discover treats you simply won’t find in larger supermarkets.

St Annes is a town that rewards those who take the time to wander. By the time I head back to The Claremont, I’ve usually found a new detail or a quiet corner that reminds me why I love being a hotelier on this coast.

Until next time,

The Fylde Hotelier
